Job Title: Human Resources Generalist / Recruiting Coordinator

Reports to: Human Resources Director

Summary: Responsible for the overall administration and support of the human resource function, policies and procedures. Administers HR programs and initiatives and supports department functions such as employee communication, employee records management, recruiting, benefits, leave programs, workers compensation, professional development, and federal/state compliance.   

Job Responsibilities

  • Organizes and maintains HR paperwork and employee records, including administrative functions such as data entry, spreadsheet management, reports, and filing
  • Manages new hire/on-boarding and off-boarding communication and processes
  • Provides communication, support and resolution for employee HR inquiries
  • Processes employee changes and offer letters
  • Completes employment verifications
  • Conducts new hire orientation
  • Manages leave programs (i.e. PTO, FMLA)
  • Coordinates recruiting efforts including: posting positions, prescreening and communicating company information to candidates, scheduling interviews, updating management, performing reference and background check processes
  • Supports administration of benefit programs
  • Manages workers compensation, light duty program and safety compliance
  • Coordinates and maintains volunteer program
  • Assists with training and development initiatives
  • Supports the maintenance and organization of HR department
  • Maintains federal/state compliance, I-9 forms, and EEO reporting 
  • Supports payroll processes and works closely with accounting
  • Works collaboratively, independently, and enjoys being part of a team
  • Performs other related responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications (Essential Experience /Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • 3+ years of varied professional Human Resources experience related to job responsibilities
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to build strong relationships and dedicated to supporting the workforce
  • Skills to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of management and employees (both verbally and in writing); and strong level of responsiveness
  • Customer focused with high level of patience, professionalism and discretion
  • Ability to think/work independently with sound judgement and keen problem solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of job responsibilities
  • Excellent time management, flexibility and organizational skills
  • Must be highly motivated and able to prioritize and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to be depended upon to complete work in an accurate and thorough manner, and is conscientious about assignments
  • Understanding of HR best practices, current regulations and supporting employment law compliance
  • Exposure to timekeeping and payroll processes
  • Excellent computer skills with Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
  • Exposure to special needs population with compassion for and understanding of those The Arc of Loudoun serves

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree desired
  • Active SHRM member preferred
  • PHR (or in process of) preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position frequently
  • The person in this position needs to often move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machine, computer, and printer
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with staff, vendors, and other professional personnel.
  • Travels across property in outdoor weather conditions
