Decoding Dyslexia

This is monthly series of speakers and discussion, aiming to raise dyslexia awareness and  empower families to support their children with dyslexia.

Title:  “Mastering the Process of School:  How to Help the Student Who Struggles with Executive Functioning.”
 
Speakers: Debbie Rosen, Founder & Parent & Kathy Essig, M.ED.  from The Study Pro (McLean, VA)
Place: The ALLY Advocacy Center, Arc of Loudoun
Time: 11am – 1pm  “Lunch & Learn” 
 
Pack a lunch and come learn what Executive Functioning is and how it impacts almost every student ~ especially those with disabilities.  This presentation will share both an educator’s and a parent’s perspective on how mastering Executive Functions create skills students will use throughout life. It will describe what exactly Executive Functioning (EF) is, why cultivating EF skills is at least as important as mastering content, and what parents can do to help students bolster EF skills.
