About The Arc of Loudoun


What is The Arc of Loudoun ?

The Arc of Loudoun is a private 501(c)(3) non-profit agency located in Loudoun County, Virginia. The organization was founded by families seeking to help themselves and each other over 40 years ago.   The Arc of Loudoun is one of over 900 local chapters of The Arc and is also involved with The Arc of Northern Virginia. The primary people The Arc of Loudoun provides services and support for are:

  • Children and adults with intellectual disabilities and related developmental disabilities

  • Families members of the person who has intellectual disabilities

What is The Arc of Loudoun's Mission?

The Arc of Loudoun was organized to advocate for persons with disabilities by promoting individual support and equitable participation with their non-disabled peers in all aspects of community life, including education, residence, vocation and healthcare. Our goal is to secure the full range of human and civil rights for children and adults with disabilities.

 

How many persons does The Arc of Loudoun serve?

  • Each year approximately 4500 persons receive information or aid directly

  • The Arc of Loudoun advocates for the legislative rights of about 15% of the population. 

  • The Arc of Loudoun supports the student population at the Aurora School

How Does The Arc of Loudoun Get Funding?

The Arc of Loudoun is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax-exempt corporation. The Arc of Loudoun relys primarily on donations from the community, grants, membership, business sponsorship and fund-raising events.

According to the latest U.S. Census Bureau forecasts, Loudoun's population was nearly 191,000 in July 2001 - 21,304 people moved into the county since the 2000 count.

We need your help! The Arc of Loudoun must grow to be able to support Loudoun's increasing population.  To learn more about assisting The Arc of Loudoun in it's work of strengthening and supporting our community through:

  • Donations (monetary, gifts in kind, services, host a fundraiser)
